Depauville Free Library will present "Loving Vincent" as part of its Carmen D'Avino Second Saturday Cinema film series, this Saturday February 10th, 2018 at 4pm.
Rotten Tomatoes gave "Loving Vincent" (2017) a Certified Fresh rating, with 83% of critic's reviews being positive and 87% of positive audience reviews.
An animated, PG-13 rated film, the story examines the life and death of Vincent van Gogh, shortly after the painter's death, from the perspective of a French postman tasked with delivering the artist's final letter.
The film is a Polish-UK collaboration between writing and directing team Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman.
Production required 125 artists to create 65,000 oil-painted frames that incorporated 120 of Van Gogh’s better-known works – a process that took ten years to complete.
"The result is a kind of hallucinatory swirl of night sky, cypress trees, and wallpapers in the background, with a foreground of characters van Gogh once painted," notes Depauville Free Library Director Karen Lago.
The D'Avino film series will continue monthly through December 2018. For more information about the series or the films, please contact Depauville Free Library at 315-686-3299 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
