The Town of Lyme has lost another very special member of the community. On June 14, 2018 Gary Nicholson lost his battle with cancer.
Gary had a long career in education as he began his career as an English teacher, then was a Secondary Principal and eventually a school Superintendent. Even after he retired Gary returned to the Lyme community and continued to be involved in education and in the local community.
He was a member of the F & AM Masonic Lodge in Chaumont, was active in the Chaumont Town Board and was the School Board President at Lyme Central School from 2004 until his death. Gary had a way of making every student and every person he met feel special. Gary’s philosophy was to always do what is best for students and he was a true role model to others.
He will truly be missed by the school community and the entire Town of Lyme. Continuing his love of education a scholarship in his name will be established at Lyme Central School.
